Diary. 1834-1845.

Although the diary begins in 1834, most of the entries are for 1841-1845. Entries record activities at the Enfield, Conn. Shaker community. Some of the entries are written in code. The entries from 1834-1841 mostly record visitors. Thereafter the entries give more information about the community, including brief summaries of lawsuits in which the Shakers were involved. Also includes information about procuring a marble slab for their sacred stone. After some blank pages is found a list headed "a record of the boys' ages in the church &c.," which gives names and dates of birth.
